| The new and improved ELK-PCI-PHD2 is the 2nd generation diagnostic card. ELK-PCI-PHD2 includes all features of its predecessor and adds many enhancements that are direct results of suggestions we have received from our customers. Unlike POST cards, ELK-PCI-PHD1 performs a series of active diagnostics to detect most system failures. ELK-PCI-PHD1's design incorporates on-board Flash firmware, memory, and video port, enabling the card to test seemingly "dead" mother boards. The card is capable of running complete diagnostics on a PCI compliant system even if memory , keyboard and video adapters are absent or dead. ELK-PCI-PHD2 supports older Intel Pentium machines to the latest Pentium 4 systems- including AMD Athlon and Opteron 64-bit processors. This unique test equipment provides users with a comprehensive range of circuit diagnostics for system PCI Bus, RAM, DMA controllers, page registers, keyboard controller, interrupt controllers, timers, CMOS clock, and many other support chips. In peripheral diagnostic mode, ELK-PCI-/PHD series will test RAM, Disk Drives, Graphics cards, I/O devices and display system configuration. ELK-PCI-PHD2 utilizes 3.3 volt PCI slot technology and can be inserted and used in both 3.3 and 5 volt PCI slots. This allows the card to be used in earlier generation Pentium boards as well as the latest server motherboards. Once installed into a PCI slot, ELK-PCI-/PHD series will perform a series test of diagnostics targeting the proper functionality of the PCI Bus. The analysis of the PCI slot begins by testing the presence and the accuracy of the 3.3 volt signal. The analysis continues by testing the header space, PCI Bridge, and burst transaction capability. The ELK-PCI-/PHD series will also interrogate all PCI slot assignments. The ELK-PCI-PHD1 can also be used to verify the PCI bus signals meet industry compatibility criteria. It runs the most comprehensive tests to eliminate the guesswork and save time. ELK-PCI-PHD2 runs 150 specific motherboard tests in less than five minutes. These tests aggressively test specific features of a motherboard's chipset and other components. The card runs 22 PCI bus/slot, 12 keyboard controller, DMA controller, 23 Interrupt controller, 8 CMOS and Real Time clock, 9 Port B and system signals, 13 critical memory and memory controller, 16 timer controller, 8 graphic and 2 main BIOS socket tests. That's almost 150 tests containing over 1000 individual component tests. The Extended Diagnostic Mode will test most of your peripherals. It contains almost 300 peripheral tests. Using pop-up menus, simply select a test and press enter. Some of the tests contained in the Extended mode include: Memory- Base, extended, cache and video; Drives- Hard, Floppy, CD-ROM, DVD,CDRW, ARMD (Zip and LS120), keyboards, I/O ports (USB, serial, modem and parallel), system configuration, monitors, burn-in, and more without the need for disk based software. Now also supports detection of network, sound and PCI modem devices. Newly added is the onboard RS232 port that allows the ELK-PCI-PHD2 to output test results to a remote computer. This allows all test results to be remotely monitored using data logging software such as Hyper Terminal. Using optional temperature sensing probes, real time temperature, measured in Fahrenheit and Celsius simultaneously, readings can be display via the dual 7-segment displays or routed through the serial port. ELK-PCI-PHD2 loads from an onboard FLASH ROM and does not require any external booting devices or operating systems. Operating System independence eliminates any conflicts that may occur between the tests, any loaded TSR's, operating systems or system BIOS features. The convenience and reliability of ROM diagnostics means that technicians get results that are the most accurate and reliable than traditional OS or Floppy based products. The comprehensive motherboard testing of the ELK-PCI-/PHD1 card combined with the outstanding peripheral testing of the Extended Diagnostics ROM, make the ELK-PCI-PHD series "the best value and the most comprehensive tool on the market today". |

Jump Start Mode via External Jump ROM
For machines with custom BIOS that do not allow for optional ROM boot, the ELK-PCI-PHD2 now can be ordered with optional Jump ROMs designed specifically for ELK-PCI-PHD2 to initialize the system on its own and perform its diagnostic tests independent of the system BIOS. Also, since the system's BIOS is removed, base RAM need not be present. Thus, you can use this mode to test a system which either does not have any installed base RAM or whose base RAM is malfunctioning. |
Direct(Forced) Start Mode
Forces systems to initialize without removing BIOS on compatible systems even without RAM or Video Card. |
