The ELK- cPSBC6800 Series is based on ASAN ST's high quality line of CompactPCI single Board Computers. This ELK-cPSBC6800 Series incorporates highly integrated modular designs from proven technologies as well as cost-effective innovative features. This board provides superior price performance in the single processor class of syste controllers by virtue of using lower cost PC100 SDRAM memory. As the internet continues its advance into real-time, high-reliability, high-availability applications, customers are looking for products that solve their infrastructure challenges and shorten their time to market. High Performance Intel Pentium III Processor
The ELK- cPSBC6800 Series is a Pentium® III FC-PGA(Flip Chip Pin Grid Array) CompactPCI Single Board Computer which is offered in 6U Form Factor. Two standard 168-pin DIMM sockets are provided to support up to 512MB of system memory. Single-bit error correction (ECC) is available using standard parity DIMMs. The processor includes an integrated on-die, 256KB, 8 way set associative level-two (L2) cache. The L2 cache implements the new Advanced Transfer Cache Architecture with a 256-bit wide bus. The processor also includes a 16KB level one (L1) instructioncache and 16KB L1 data cache. These cache arrays run at the full speed of the processor core.
Single PCI-to-PCI
The ELK-cPSBC6800 series with single PCI-to-PCI bridge chip is applicable up to 8 PCI slot enclosure. Optionally the ELK-cPSBC6800 series with one PCI-to-PCI bridges through Backplane is applicable up to 17 PCI slot enclosure.
CompactPCI Form Factor
The ELK-cPSBC6800 series' rugged CompactPCI, open, established industrial form factor provides a unique combination of functionality and reliability that fits the needs of today's telecommunications customers. Fully compliant with PICMG 2.0 R3.0 CompactPCI and CompactPCI Hot Swap PICMG 2.1 R1.0 specifications, the ELK-cPSBC6800 resides in a peripheral slot and is hot swappable.
High Availability Features
High system reliability is ensured on the ELK-cPSBC6800 series through its power control and short circuit protection functions. In a properly configured system, these features allow hot extraction and insertion of the ELK-cPSBC6800 series, drastically improving system uptime.
On-Board Peripherals
Integrated on-board is a single Intel 82559 Ethernet controller. This PCI Ethernet interface provides a fully auto-negotiating 10/100Base-T connectionover standard RJ-45 data grade twisted-pair cable up to 100 meters in length. Support is provided for full duplex operation, allowing effective data rates to reach 20 Mbps and 200Mbps, respectively. A PCI EIDE controller on the ELK-cPSBC6800 series gives excellent performance with all high speed IDE drives and also supports LBA mode, and bootable CD-ROM's. Standard ISA bus peripherals like a PS/2 keyboard/mouse controller, Real Time Clock, Floppy controller, RS-232/485 serial ports, ECP/EPP parallel port and field upgradable Flash BIOS are also integrated onto the ELK-cP6800 series. A CHIPS 69030 HiQVideo accelerator with 4MB integrated memory provides eye-opening 2D accelerated graphics performance for human-machine interfaces and imaging applications, Resolutions up to 1600x1200 are supported.
